my book: your review?

Willower book

To help those searching…

To help those in need of the right words to guide them through their grief . . . or to help those who don’t know what to say to their bereaved friend, sister, patient, client, cousin, neighbor, colleague . . . and are looking for the right book to offer them, your honest, objective, and useful review could be the key to helping those searching to find Willower: Rewriting After Unimaginable Loss.

about this book

  • How does one go on after experiencing unimaginable loss?
  • How many years does it take to learn to live again?
  • After the loss of a child, how does one find a purpose or a reason to keep going?

In my book, Willower, I give you, the reader, a raw and in-depth look at the fears, joys, and challenges of motherhood. Then the nightmare happens and the grief sets in, and finally, after eleven years, I come to terms with the reality of living without my son Sam (by keeping him, his memory, alive).

I show you what I tried, what I learned, what worked, and what I know now about searching for meaning and migrating through the days living with deep sadness.

This book, I know, is an emotionally difficult one to read. But you’ll also find it’s written in a way (and this is the biggest compliment I’ve been getting) that somehow keeps compelling you to . . . well, keep going, reading.

The ending chapters (10 and 11) will take you deep inside my heart where you, too, will see Sam, and come to realize that yes, the letters are indeed magic.

(from Chapter 11. A different ending: my mission)

I know it seems daunting

It’s no small task to read a book and then to write a meaningful review. Ugh! Believe me, I know the time it can take, and I procrastinate too—and yes, even I agonize over what to write. Writing is hard! The struggle is real.

Remember, you don’t have to be a “good writer” to do this. And it’s okay to keep your review brief: a few sentences are fine.

If your Willower book review is still a work in progress, here are a few ideas to nudge you along:

  • How did the book make you feel?
  • What was your takeaway? What did you learn? What did you get out of reading this book?
  • How do you think this book might help others?
  • Try imagining you’re texting (or telling) a friend about this book: what would that message look like? What would you say?
  • Just be yourself, and write the first few things, reactions, that come to mind.

Thank you for reading

If you’ve already left an Amazon book review, I want to THANK YOU for your time, your thoughts, and especially your support! It means the world to me.
