life
Every single one of us has a completely unique and deeply personal journey that we take on this thing we call life . . . Find the courage to take the wheel and steer it wherever your heart desires.
— Mel Robbins
FOR THE LAST FEW MONTHS, I’ve been feeling like I’m floundering, languishing. Sitting in the passenger’s seat (or some days, the backseat) staring at the weeds, at life, along the soft shoulder as they pass by; instead of taking the wheel, looking forward, and navigating from the driver’s seat.
Maybe you feel like this too? Which is why I wanted to write this post since this blog and my book are all about reinventing oneself. And if, like me, you’ve been coasting through life on autopilot, I hope you find this podcast as helpful as I do. 👇

WHILE WALKING THE OTHER DAY, this podcast I listened to — Mel Robbins, episode 224: How To Reinvent Yourself & Make The Greatest Comeback Of Your Life — got me thinking about the roads I’ve been down in my life, and the one I’m on now, and the signs I keep passing:
“Mile marker 61 up ahead.”
“Now what, empty-nester?”
“Look forward: Where to next?”
I need some reinventing myself lately. I’ve spent years looking in the rearview mirror. Because I needed/wanted to; I was writing a memoir.
But now, I feel the pull forward, to start looking ahead at what could be up there in the distance, in the future.

takeaways
SUCH GOOD STUFF TO REMEMBER: No matter where we are right now, or what painful and unwanted detours we’ve dealt with or are dealing with or stuck in, we get to choose our next destination and how we’re going to navigate to get there, and reinvent ourselves with the wisdom and lessons we’ve learned from our experiences.
Wherever we are, we can choose from a thousand different routes where to go next. We can reinvent ourselves and start over.
How do we do that? 👆
By looking a few years ahead. Picking a destination, something new on the horizon to look forward to, something that excites us. Perhaps, a future dream that helps take away our blahs and ignites a tiny flame within us.
Plan a trip?
Pick a new place to call home?
Map out a career change?
Or just . . .
Pick a good book to read?
Plan a lunch date with a friend?
Block time to journal or write each day?
The future is an open road.
